RICHÉ J. DANIEL BARNES, PH.D.

Dr. Riché J. Daniel Barnes is a sociocultural anthropologist whose teaching and research specializations are at the intersection of black feminist theories, work and family policy, and African Diasporic raced, gendered, and classed identity formation. She is the author of the award-winning book, Raising the Race: Black Career Women Redefine Marriage Motherhood and Community. She has been featured on Left of Black with Mark Anthony Neal (see video below) and given numerous interviews and lectures. She has written broadly on "Black Strategic Mothering" a theoretical framework she developed to explore Black women's interior work, community, and family lives and how they impact their relationships and health. She is currently the Dean of Pierson College at Yale University and is available for conferences, lectures and workshops.
